Planning Your Perfect Day
Early in the year is the busiest time of year for any wedding venues
in helping newly engaged couples through the excitement of gathering information, selecting the perfect wedding day and entering a whole new world of wedding planning
However, it can also be exhausting, not to mention overwhelming, with a wealth of information and ideas out there.
Choosing your venue will be one of the most important decisions you will make and will set the tone for the day, so it is an important decision to get right.
Here, our Wedding Manager, shares her tips on what to think about and questions to ask prospective venues:
"Firstly, congratulations on your recent engagement! I manage all the weddings here at Stoke Place; meeting and working with couples from their first enquiry through to their wedding day. Visiting venues is often the first important step in the planning of a wedding and couples often ask me my best wedding tips. I have shared with you below my top 5 to help you along the way.
1. Wedding email address
This is probably one of the best ways to get organised from the start so you can keep all your wedding information centralised. From when you start planning up until the day there will be mountains of email from quotes, confirmations to final details. The last thing you want is these getting lost between the latest Living Social offer or your daily fashion updates. These will also form part of your back up so ensure you keep it organised with folders for venue, décor, cake etc.
2. Work out a list of priorities
Everyone has a different vision for their day and there is no right and wrong way to have it however a list of priorities will help focus what you both want. Whether it is amazing food, having a venue exclusively or the option to party until the early hours of the morning keep these things in mind when looking at venues. Consider also how your budget fits in to this too and what you want to splurge on and what you can do without. Consider how flexible your venue is as well, do they operate a fixed rate price per head or do you have the option to build a day around your own ideals.
3. Seek Advice
Many of our weddings here come to us through recommendation from previous couples and guests who have attended weddings. Speak to friends and family who have been through it before and ask for advice and ideas as well as their best recommendations. Similarly suppliers do this day in and day out and know what works and can offer great advice but make sure that they listen to your ideas and aren't pushing something on you that you don't want - remember this is still Your Day!
Whether you want an all-out themed wedding or just subtle touches to run through the day you need to consider this when looking at your venue - if you want a colour theme of red then consider how this will fit with the décor at the venue. At Stoke Place we have two very different styles of spaces, our large classical Ballroom offers a true blank canvas with neutral walls and beautiful new floor throughout that offers couples a way to really personalise. If that isn't your style consider the Howard Vyse Suites, with beautiful flocked wall paper and listed moulding on the walls you need minimal decoration to have a stunning wedding. Why not consider Exclusive Use of the whole house and showcase the spaces in all their glory.
5. Have fun!
Most of all remember to enjoy it and take time as a couple too. Why not have a romantic getaway at your chosen venue as a taste of things to come and remind yourself why you fell in love."
A secret treasure hidden behind an ancient wall, 17th century Stoke Place Country House is a reinvention of the traditional country house that blends original features with handpicked modern flourishes and 26 acres of stunning parkland, originally designed by legendary landscape gardener Capability Brown. This substantial Queen Anne manor house - set in picturesque Buckinghamshire Berkshire border yet but within 30 minutes of central London - is the dream wedding venue to host your perfect day.
